Dengue fever is a mosquito borne fever, classified as a life threatening disease. A severe form of dengue fever is called dengue hemorrhagic fever which causes excessive bleeding, a sudden drop in blood pressure and may lead to death.

Dengue Fever Causes

Dengue is a vector borne disease, caused by the bite of one of the many types of mosquitoes in the genus Aedes Aegypti. Once in the body, the virus travels to various glands where it multiplies. Mosquitoes are usually found in urban and suburban areas, as they like to breed in man-made containers like tires, flowerpots, and household water.

There are several reasons behind the outbreak of disease, some of them are

  • Carelessness in water storage
  • Poor waste disposal and sanitation
  • Strictly avoid water stagnancy

Dengue Symptoms

Symptoms of Dengue infection usually begin in 4-7 days after the mosquito bite and typically last 3-10 days. Doctors also say that more than half of infected victims remain asymptomatic, that is, they do not show any Dengue symptoms. The ones who do show signs of the disease may show any or all of the following:

  • High fever
  • Intense sweating
  • Pain in joints
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Loss in appetite
  • Drop in blood pressure
  • Skin rash
  • Swelling in hands and soles of feet

If the situation worsens, there can be a drop in the level of blood platelets, blood plasma leakage or the blood pressure can drop down to a critically low point which may lead a circulatory collapse (shock).

Prophetic Dengue Fever Treatment

Around 2.5 billion people, or 40 percent of the world’s population, live in areas where there is a risk of dengue transmission. There is no certain treatment for dengue, but early detection and access to proper medical care lowers fatality rates to a significant extent.

Dengue originated about some 800 years ago, so it never existed in the time of Prophet (S.A.W.). However, a medical care has been derived from the diseases mentioned in Tib relating to similar Dengue symptoms. This includes the use of Prophetic herbs and fruits to increase the platelets count.
